Chris Trueman, a member of our Artist Directory, will be exhibiting at the Joyce Gordon Gallery, 406 14th Street in Oakland, California during the month of June. One of his works on display will be the above piece, Self Portrait with Gun, which was made from 200,000 ants on plexiglass.

He will also be at the gallery during the Pro Arts East Bay Open Studios, on June 2nd and 3rd and the following weekend June 9th and 10th, from 12noon to 6pm. So if you are in town, stop by and meet him and see his work!

Painter Dennis Parlante will be participating in the Hunter’s Point Spring Open Studios next weekend, April 28th and 28th from 11am - 6pm. If you happen to find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, stop by his studio and say ‘hello!’. Dennis is one of 160 artists to open their studios to visitors and art collectors. Parking is available, and free.

Over the weekend I was a little wanting for something to do so I wandered around Berkeley, where I’ve been staying for the last year, and checked out some Places to Stay. If I had to choose between staying in San Francisco or staying in Berkeley, for sure I would choose San Francisco. The hotels in Berkeley seem to be completely centered around the university, both in location and in services. San Francisco has a lot more variety and things to do. And I don’t think it’s any less expensive to stay in Berkeley.

I had someone ask me how to make Pico di Gallo and it occurred to me that someone else out there may want to know how to make it so I wrote up the recipe, such as it is, for this Mexican staple. It’s really just a lot of chopping!

Diane Feissel, a member of the Artist Directory, will be moving her studio from San Francisco to North Carolina in July.

Also, Diane will be included in 2 group shows this spring and summer.

This spring will be spent in Grenoble for an exhibition, at an intensive painting workshop in the Poitou region of France, and painting in Paris.

In May 2007 she will be showing work with French painter Juliette Lemontey in Grenoble, France at Galerie Cupillard.

She will also be exhibiting at Karin Sanders Fine Art located in Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York.
