Travel Voodoo
I’m beginning to get worried.
I’ve been trying to get to Mexico for two years. It looked like it was finally going to happen this winter. Time + Money = Travel. There were some scheduling snafus at first. It was all my fault when the place I wanted to stay over the Christmas/New Year’s holiday was booked. I had waited too long to make my decision. Then in January I missed my flight. While waiting to reschedule I caught a cold that lasted three and half weeks. Then I started to try and reschedule again. Caught another cold that lasted another three and half weeks. Then Spring Break happened (rise in air ticket prices + crowd = no go).
Then decided that maybe southern Mexico just wasn’t the place for me to go to right now. I certainly was getting the message that was the case.
So I started looking towards Rome. Earthquake.
Back to Mexico. Instead of southern Mexico (temperatures rose to 100+) I decided to start looking at Mexico City. Just as I am ready to buy my ticket – 80 people dead of swine flu, schools and public places closed … and this morning … earthquake!
I’m almost afraid to say where I might think about going next. I wouldn’t want to bring down any more catastrophes on the world.
