artist-at-large covers all of the good stuff! It is a creative social networking community of people who love to, or want to, travel, along with artists, writers, photographers, musicians and other creative people who want to share their work, their stories, and information of life found along the way.
We are currently running a “14-Day Free Trial” of the artist-at-large network.

Membership
We do not live in a vacuum. By participating as a Member in this exciting new community you’ll have the opportunity to connect with both site readers and other site members, with a focus on promoting our work and participating in the conversation – about all aspects of art, writing, photography, music, creative life, and/or cultural travel.
If you are familiar with the last version of artist-at-large, you’ll know that there were three distinct parts to the site: the regional destination guides, The Artist Directory, and The ArtStudio. This new site redesign brings all three of those separate parts together as a whole.
Why a Membership Fee?
While other art portfolio or travel related sites may feed you an overload of distracting advertising to pay for the upkeep of the site, your membership fees will keep advertising on the site at a minimum, if not removed completely. This gives us a clean white canvas to give you the opportunity to show off and share your work and participate in a community that is focused not on selling you things, but on creating community around the subjects you love while promoting your own work and events.
As the publisher of artist-at-large, I want to spend my time being an editor, publisher, and community facilitator of a quality site and not a juggler of “lets see what kind of advertising will or probably won’t work today”. Membership fees benefit both the site and the community.

Monthly Member:
– Activity Stream and Groups participation: Here you can post status updates much in the same way that you can for other social networks. Tell us what you are up to, where you are going, ask travel, art, or cultural related questions, post your random images, links to new work, videos, etc., start and participate in groups, as long as they stay pretty much on the topic of art, culture, and cultural travel, it’s what we want to talk about. Participate in PhotoClub and F-Stop while you are a member. And there will be space for off-topic conversations too!
– A monthly subscription to the network is $10US per month* with a 14-day free trial.
Who would benefit from a Monthly Membership?
Those who only want to participate in the community aspects of the site – in The Stream and in the groups and forums. Let’s say, for instance, you are a gallery who has monthly Calls for Entries, you can post in our Calls for Entries group which is viewable by the public as well as members.

Annual Member:
– All of the above, plus …
– Your own blog on your own subdomain: yourname.artist-at-large.com
You can use your space as a static portfolio site, or as a blog. You can post galleries of your work, daily images, stories about your daily life in the studio, or just use it as a sort of online calling card. You can post creative writing and narrative about your travels. Anything you want as long as it falls under the umbrella topics of art, writing, photography, and/or cultural travel.
You can certainly use your Member blog to promote your work, open studios, art exhibitions and cultural events, but no third-party advertising. The focus is on you. Member’s can link to their other sites on the web, or other sites that promote their work, or to other sites where they have been published.
– “Featured Post” possibilities: Every now and then, exceptional posts (ie: exceptional posts must have exceptional writing, exceptional art/photography, etc.) from the Member sites will be featured in this category on the front page of the site. From time to time there may be a Guest Editor.
– Free submission for the Annual Publications.
Note about Member Sites: Everyone gets the same look and feel and basic sidebar. It’s what you post that gives your site flair – use your work to make it a colorful place that readers and collectors want to visit.

Angel Membership
Angels are special people because they are able to see the potential in projects like artist-at-large.
Angel Memberships are $1,000US and are good for the life of the site.
With an Angel Membership you get everything an Annual Member does, and from time to time there might be a small gift that comes your way.
Angel Members can join just for the warm and fuzzy sake of supporting artist-at-large and in turn inspiring community between artists and travelers, or they can be full participants in the community. Your level of participation is up to you. Just know that Angel funding is the main source of financial support for artist-at-large and its publisher.

You’ll have access to the community via the gray admin bar across the top of the site.
Once you subscribe via Paypal, you will be directed to a page with a form to fill out. Please fill this out and submit it. I’ll then manually register you on the site using your email address that you provided. If you signed up for an Annual Membership and would like to be a part of the artist-at-large blogging community, after I’ve received your annual payment I’ll create your blog using your first and last name. Use the 14 days of the free trial period to take the opportunity to ask all the questions you’d like about participating in the community or using the blogging platform. Once your trial period is over, you’re a member until your next billing period (see Unsubscribe below).
