About Us: Jobs
Writers: Cultural Travel eGuideBooks: Freelance PartnerWe have just opened our eBook publishing house and are accepting submissions for a new series of destination specific cultural travel guides focusing on art and culture for electronic publication. Writing is done and photographs are submitted on spec and if accepted, you get a percentage of each sale for the shelf life of the eBook. Pricing for our travelguide eBooks is targeted between US $2.99 and up, depending on the destination and the amount of information/number of pages that are invloved, but the upper level is not set in stone and can be negotiated. GuideBooks must include all original content (both written and photographs), should be thoroughly researched, clearly written and the focus should be the art and culture of a place, plus the getting around information. Culture could include, but not limited to, history, bios of creative historical figures, art (all aspects from looking at it, studying it, creating it), music, nightlife, food/restaurant suggestions, architecture, archaeology, and landscape. GuideBooks are meant to be an extension, with more details, of the web site. Regions/Destinations: We will look at submissions for destinations anywhere in the world and are not limited to the regions covered by the blogs on the site. Current eBooks under development are: Berkeley, Cafes of Berkeley and Big Sur RoadTrip. When thinking about destinations: While we might publish an eBook on Baja, we'd definitely publish a smaller eBook on Todos Santos. Not one on the whole state of New Mexico, but definitely Santa Fe or Taos, or Santa Fe/Taos. Not Italy but separate eBooks on Venice, Florence, Rome, and other individual towns. You get the idea. Micro-Subjects/Niches: Is your creative or writing focus on one particular subject, medium, or niche? Like food, wine, photography, graffiti, or Italian art history? Have you written a cultural cookbook? We're also interested in small eBooks that focus on just one aspect of a place. Books, for now, will be made available in PDF format. Books will be required to adhere to a pre-designed style guide that complements the web site. Planned percentage payouts:
Final draft should be sent in text format with attached photographs. Updates can be made anytime information changes. Just let us know you'll be sending a new draft. If you'd like to write for us, but aren't sure if your destination or topic is something we'd be interested in, or if you'd like to really narrow down your subject but want to know what to include and what to toss, just email and ask!
